Schooner Creek Discovery Park

Location: Lincoln City, OR

Client: City of Lincoln City

Size: 6.8 acres

Collaborators: K&E Excavating, DOWL Engineers, Bearing Architecture

This new park, located in the historic Taft District, will be the first new park built in Lincoln City in over 20 years. Understory is leading community engagement and design of the park which will include trails, picnic areas, sports fields, an inclusive playground, stage for events, native planting, and connections to Schooner Creek and Siletz Bay.

The park is an opportunity to create a beloved community gathering place in a neighborhood that currently lacks access to nearby public recreational spaces. The design celebrates the social history of the site as an important gathering space for people throughout time and the historic ecology of the site as a coastal estuary and forested wetland.
